Location
Castlecrag is a suburb on the Lower North Shore of Sydney with rugged bush reserves and a rich cultural history. It is eight kilometres north of Sydney’s CBD and is in the local government area of the Municipality of Willoughby. Castlecrag lies adjacent to Eastern Valley Way and is bordered to the north, east and south by Middle Bay. Surrounding suburbs include Willoughby, Northbridge and Middle Cove.

Household Occupancy
The predominant age group in Castlecrag falls between 40-49 years. In relation to demographics, couples with children make up the largest group of residents, occupying 49% of households. Childless couples make up 27% of the population and single parents 14%. 50% of residents in Castlecrag own their homes outright, 35% are purchasers and 12% are renting. Those who are purchasing their homes would be paying more than $2,000 a month in mortgage repayments. The area is also well serviced by Castle Cove Golf Course, which offers a vast array of recreational opportunities with a tennis club, fitness centre and boatshed. The local Quadrangle Shopping Village is located on Edinburgh Road and features a Coles supermarket and other specialty shops. There are two preschools in Castlecrag and it is only a few minutes drive to the nearby Willoughby Public School and Willoughby Girls High School. Castlecrag is ideally located close to the UTS Kuringai campus and Macquarie University.
Transport
It is just over a ten minute drive from Castlecrag to the Sydney CBD via Miller Road and the Harbour Bridge. The nearest railway station to Castlecrag is Chatswood. It is on the North Shore and Northern lines of the City Rail network and is approximately a 25 minute journey to Central Station. Regular bus services operate from Castlecrag to the CBD and Chatswood. There are seven bus routes to the CBD and North Sydney and two routes connecting to Chatswood.
Restaurants, Accommodation, Amenities
Edinburgh Road is lined with a number of restaurants of international cuisine. Romano’s Italian Restaurant is a local favourite offering an ambient dining experience with its lush alfresco courtyard decked out in white tablecloths and napkins. It is a licensed venue with ample parking and wheelchair access. Bai Yok Thai, Burley’s Italian restaurant and Ganache Patisserie are three other hotspots. Castlecrag is a heavily residential suburb, so there are hotels or apartments in the area. However, it is only a ten minute drive to the Rydges and North Shore hotels in North Sydney.
