“I have used Mortgageport three times, most recently to purchase two properties in Canberra.
One of these purchases was an investment unit that I purchased with my parents. The other was our family home here in Canberra, a 'knock-down' that we are rebuilding completely.
The purchase of the unit was a simple process, but it needed to happen quickly to satisfy the requirements of the vendor. Glen Spratt, Mortgageport Managing Director, arranged for our loan to be approved as quickly as possible. My parents live four hours away, however Mortgageport was extremely helpful in having documentation sent between Canberra, Sydney and Western NSW.
With our family home, the first time we saw the property was the day before the auction. We were the highest bidder when it was passed in, and subsequently, purchased it weeks later. I have rather complicated business investments, so this would not have been possible without the support we received from Glen.

They are building a home in Cowan (near the Hawkesbury River, north of Sydney) and need a fixed price contract. “When I first came to Mortgageport, I needed a mortgage organised at very short notice to meet a very tight deadline. I was looking for a new home and had a loan pre-approved with a credit union. When I found the home I wanted to buy, I called the credit union to make sure my loan was still okay. I was assured that it was.

“This is the second time I’ve used Mortgageport. The first was for the acquisition of a family home in 2007 and this time my Mortgageport representative was Glenn Huxley - Glenn was fantastic and I believe he is a valuable asset to the team.
Initially, I went through another website in a bid to find the lowest interest rate. I had the loan approved by the provider with the lowest rate – but soon after that, we discovered there were an enormous number of complications – including the property being difficult to access and there being no comparable valuations. Once the intricacies and idiosyncrasies of the property became apparent – this group cancelled the loan. So I went to a major bank and they were very unhelpful and uninterested. I was in despair – I decided I needed to find someone who could really help me and bring a customer focused approach.
The speed of response from Mortgageport was fantastic. They acted very quickly and came back on the same day. I found the team to be positive, prepared to listen and with a can-do attitude, which was very different to what I experienced with the banks. They had the knowledge on how to get around difficulties, which was very helpful. Everyone else thought it was too hard whereas Glenn consistently came back to me and kept finding solutions. I would say that he made a personal commitment and applied enormous amount of energy and heart to get the loan through. Banks very much present an ‘us and them’ interface. This was different with Mortgageport - I felt they were on my side.
Although I was initially concerned that the loan Mortgageport offered may have just been a default solution, the solution worked and my fears that it might be might be expensive were unfounded.
